Karen Azoulay
sprinkle sprinkle
Nov 2-23, 2002
Paul Petro Contemporary Art is pleased to present exhibitions of new work by Toronto-based artist (and kindred spirit) Karen Azoulay.
Karen Azoulay is a graduate of York University's fine art department (2000). She was co-director of West Wing Art Space, an artist-run gallery on Queen St West in Toronto (2000-01). This is Karen's first exhibition at our gallery.
Karen offers the following words about sprinkle sprinkle:
"painting installation of landscape as theatre set"
"It is quite ordinary for rain showers or snow flurries to sprinkle your garden, but this time it is my garden that is sprinkling on you.
"sprinkle sprinkle is a stationary painting installation of organically suggestive prop-like forms. These three- dimensional elements have been crafted out of paper, plastic and fabric. A hyper-palette and painted abstract motifsreference precipitation, floral growth, confetti and the soft downpour of various other romantically charged and magically infused particles."
Karen would like to thank the Ontario Arts Council for its generous support.
