"If the studio space is a repository for visual objects, these paintings might ruminate on the idea of storage space. The symbolic connotations of the image as an artistic invention make up some of the “subject” of these paintings. I’m not really interested in making paintings of paintings per se, but that is one way to explain this. The visual appearance of stacked works interfering and creating new visual possibilities inside the architectural interior of the studio appear as a catalyst, as a way to create formal and textural interplay and slight narrative possibilities, to find ways to express emotional and psychological tensions and sensations."
