Paul Petro Contemporary Art is pleased to host the launch of a new artist book, “Like A Baby I Was Born Again”, based on a new series of black and white drawings by Jay Isaac and published by Swimmers Group.

80 pages, 10 x 8 inches, edition of 75, $20.

Reception Friday June 29, 5-7pm. Artist present.

Jay Isaac (b. 1975, New Brunswick, Canada) studied at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design, Vancouver, Canada (1993-1997) and at the Cardiff Institute of Art and Design, Cardiff, Wales (1996). He was the co-founder and publisher of Hunter and Cook Magazine (2009-2011) and founded and ran the @nationalgalleryofcanada Instagram account ( 2015-2016). Isaac has had reviews and interviews in Canadian Art Magazine, Flash Art, Border Crossings, Tema Celeste, Whitehot Magazine, Artslant and Editorial Magazine. He has received numerous awards and distinctions most recently including Canada Council grants (2017 and 2018) and an Ontario Arts Council grant (2018). Isaac lives and works in Toronto, Canada.

Founded in 2014, Swimmers Group publishes quality art books and assists local independent creators with print projects. Past projects include Brad Phillips’s fictionalized autobiography “Suicidal Realism”, Matt Thurber’s satirical comic “Art Comic”, and the 26 zine collection CG(eye) featuring the work of Canadian artists including Sandra Meigs, Jennifer Sciarrino, Hanna Hur, Jennifer Murphy, and Susy Oliveira. www.swimmersgroup.com
