Paulette Phillips
The Secret Life of Criminals
April 8-29, 2000
Paul Petro Contemporary Art is pleased to present the premier of Paulette Phillips' The Secret Life of Criminals. This new installation is a co-presentation with Toronto's Images Festival of Independent Film & Video.
Paulette Phillips' new video installation The Secret Life of Criminals was inspired by The Female Offender, a book by C Lombroso and W Ferrero, published in 1903. This book attempts to categorize and define the physical traits of female criminals.
Phillips works primarily in long-form drama and has created award-winning works in film, video, performance and theatre. She teaches film, video and writing in Toronto at the Ontario College of Art and Design.
