Nell Tenhaaf
Flo'nGlo
Co-presented with the Images Festival
April 8 - 30, 2005
Nell Tenhaaf with sound by John Kamevaar. The primary exchange in Flo'nGlo is between two sculptural characters who are having a conversation in low-res video and processed sound. Breakdowns in their signal flow are a natural part of their activity though Flo loses her rhythm and then Glo sends her a cue so that it can resume. This is visible as a swarming in the LED display, and audible as the restoration of a harmonic centre. Flo and Glo are dependent on each other to keep their communication going. Particle swarm optimization MAX object by Ben Bogart, electronics by Nick Stedman.
Nell Tenhaaf is a senior Canadian artist who lives in Toronto and teaches in the Visual Arts department of York University. A fifteen-year survey of her work is currently touring in Canada.
